Conference “EU – VIETNAM FTA : new opportunities”
14 September 2016, 16h00 – 19h00
Permanent Representation of Belgium to the EU
61- 63 rue de la Loi, 1040 Brussels

Dear Sir or Madame,

On 2 December 2015 after two and a half year of intense negotiations, Viet Nam and the European Union have successfully concluded the negotiations on a comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. The deal will eliminate more than 99 percent of tariffs on goods traded between the two economies over a period of up to seven years. The agreement – called “a new model for trade policy with developing countries” by the EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström – is the first the European Union has concluded with a developing country.

The EVFTA is expected to create new waves of trade flows and investments between the two sides and to bring benefits to both Vietnamese and European stakeholders and societies at large. In order to introduce the new opportunities that the Agreement could open up to the EU’s investors and business representatives, the Mission of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the European Union, in collaboration with the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the European Union, BusinessEurope, Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency, Flanders Investment and Trade, Brussels Invest and Export, and the Belgian Vietnamese Alliance, will organize the conference: “EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement : new opportunities” on Wednesday 14th September 2016, 16:00 – 19:00 at the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the EU, 61 – 63 rue de la Loi, 1040 Brussels.

The Mission of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the European Union is pleased to invite you to the conference with the Vice-Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Mr. Tran Quoc Khanh, and Mr. Mauro Petriccione–respectively chief negotiators for the EVFTA from Vietnam and the European Union.
